Buhrs and Friedheim International sign distributor agreement

Buhrs and Friedheim International are pleased to announce that they have signed a distributor agreement for all sales, service and spare parts
for Buhrs Poly and Paper Wrapping Systems for the UK and Ireland. The new agreement is effective immediately and Friedheim has taken on key staff from the UK who have a great loyalty and dedication to the Buhrs product range.

The move is another strategic step for Friedheim International as it enables the company to expand its already extensive portfolio of finishing and packaging equipment solutions. Mark Bristow, Managing Director, says: "Although Friedheim has a presence in almost all areas of conventional post-press, digital and packaging activities, Buhrs is a key player in high speed wrapping applications and is a well-known and respected brand, and with the type of high quality products that we are now taking on, this is a very exciting move for Friedheim at the start of a new year.”

For Buhrs this is an important step forward after the closure of Buhrs UK. Ruud Oud, Sales and Marketing Manager for Buhrs, says: “We are happy to be able to serve our customers again. In Friedheim International we see an ideal home in a professional organisation for the quality products that Buhrs stands for and we are convinced that we will see a successful future together.”

Background information:
Buhrs Poly and Paper Wrapping Systems are renowned for their high quality, reliability and high performance, along with easy operation, service and maintenance. The systems have the ability to use different packaging materials, thereby providing numerous presentation options for magazines, newspapers and other media products for the mailing and fulfilment industries.

Friedheim strengthens print finishing and packaging portfolio with new agency

Friedheim International is pleased to announce that it has been appointed as exclusive agent for the UK and Ireland by Sigma Engineering bv. The appointment, which is effective immediately, covers sales, service, spare parts and training for the company’s range of pick & place feeding units for use in print finishing and packaging production lines.

Three models are currently available from Sigma: they are the Pick & Place Basic, Pick & Place Servo, and the Streamfeeder. Both the Basic and Servo versions offer countless application possibilities, enabling the user to easily place cards, bags, credit cards, CDs, coins and various three-dimensional product samples onto a principle item, such as a magazine or brochure.

Independently powered, the units can be installed anywhere above a conveyor track, and operated either individually or integrated into the controls of the main machine. Operating on a rotating principle, both the Basic and Servo models can be fully synchronised at all times to ensure that the release of the product samples coincides with the recipient item travelling along the conveyor of the production machine.

The Sigma Pick & Place Basic can operate at a maximum placing speed of 12,000 products per hour, while the larger Servo version is capable of feeding items up to a maximum of 18,000 per hour.

The Sigma Streamfeeder can be connected to all Sigma Pick & Place feeder models, and can substantially improve productivity by automatically placing the required sample products into the storage magazines that supply the feeding operation. Accurate positioning and height monitoring is aided by the inclusion of adjustable side guides and ‘jogging plates’, as well as a photocell, and the versatility of the Streamfeeder enables it to be set up for any given product format and machine speed, thereby ensuring optimum efficiency.

New agency adds strapping options to Friedheim’s print finishing and packaging portfolio

Transpak Equipment Corp of Taiwan has appointed Friedheim International as its UK and Ireland agent. The appointment, effective immediately, covers sales, service, spare parts and training for the company’s speciality strapping machines.

The TP-711N series of fully automatic strapping machines have been designed specifically for printed media applications, and in particular newspaper, magazine, brochures, and direct mail production. The simple design of TP-711N series offers all the functionality required by the user and is highly cost effective.

As part of the TP-711N series, Transpak currently offers the TP-701NS Single and the TP-711NT Tandem. The TP-701NS Single has both single and parallel options, and features a compact mechanical strapping head that incorporates 30% fewer working parts, thereby reducing maintenance and simplifying operation. Ease of use is also assisted by the incorporation of waist-high automatic strap feeding, a bundle rotating turntable and adjustable bundle stops.

The TP-701NS Single can accommodate 5 mm, 6 mm and 9 mm strap widths, a maximum bundle with of 500 mm and height of 380 mm. When single strapping, it can produce up to 35 bundles per minute, while in parallel operation the maximum is 20 bundles per minute.

The TP-711NT Tandem offers all of the features of the Single model, but with the added ability to produce cross-strapping solutions. Up to 30 bundles per minute can be produced in cross-strapping operation, and a maximum of 33 bundles per minute are possible in parallel mode.

Transpak also supplies the Mercury TP-702, an automatic high speed strapping machine suitable for a variety of general purpose applications, including mailroom operations, carton closure, distribution centres, corrugated box packing, etc. Compact in design and user-friendly, the highly productive and cost-effective Mercury TP-702 is capable of handling strap widths of 5, 6, 9 and 12 mm, and operating at speeds of 65 straps per minute (5, 6 and 9 mm) and 60 straps per minute (12 mm).

Audion introduces new bundle packer

The latest packaging solution from Audion Elektro is the BE-MATIC 29 (BM29), a semi-automatic combination bundle packer with tunnel that is ideal for shrink-wrapping and bundling numerous product items including bottles (glass and PET), boxes, jars, cans and cases, in a wide variety of pack collations.
Operation of the BE-MATIC 29 is straightforward. By pressing two buttons, the operator starts the seal cycle; a pneumatic device pushes the products inside the machine where the products are sleeve wrapped in PE film. The incorporated table provides enough space to enable the operator to collate products while at the machine.

The main features of the BE-MATIC 29 are:

  • Pneumatic seal bar
  • Pneumatic film cut made by cold blades
  • Motor driven upper and lower film transport
  • User-friendly control panel with back lit multi-lingual LCD
  • Storage of 10 different programs
  • Pneumatic product pusher activated by the operator
  • Built-in safety devices such as safety covered seal bar
  • Cooling fan at the end of the tunnel
  • Pressure rod to stop products
Beck launches new version of Serienpacker

As well as celebrating 50 years of wrapping excellence (on 9 May 2010), Beck Packautomaten also announced a major upgrade of its Serienpacker series by adding four-sided product sealing, greater efficiency, cost savings and higher versatility to its already impressive list of features.

New electronically controlled drive systems for cross and side sealing, a larger working width range, significantly reduced energy consumption, minimal floor space and a cost-saving film processing system that allows the use of extremely thin films, all go to making the new generation Serienpacker S 850 XJ a technically advanced wrapping machine.

Particular effort has been made to ensure that the new Serienpacker S 850 XJ provides optimal welding seams to achieve distortion-free and skin-tight packaging, no matter whether using PE, polyolefin and polypropylene films
Moreover, owing to modifications in the sealing and transport areas the machine can be operated without compressed air. It is also possible to shut off components that are temporarily not required, which can help to significantly reduce energy costs.

Design and construction has been optimised, resulting in a much smaller packaging machine and a considerable reduction in floor space. The size of the control cabinet has been reduced by one third, the film rolls integrated into the casing, and the versatile transport conveyors, which allow products to be fed either by hand or fully automatically, have been re-designed in order to save space.

The touch panel now allows even easier adjustment of the Serienpacker S 850 XJ and quicker changeovers between jobs. Icons guide the operator and make using the machine much easier. Packaging data is calculated automatically and then stored in a memory - it has never been simpler to enter and retrieve packaging data!
